Job Description
As a Apprentice Pastry Chef, you will gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen while working towards a qualification. Under the guidance of experienced Holroyd Howe chefs, you will learn essential skills, including:
* Food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills
* Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
* Understanding and maintaining food hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations
* Assisting in the production of high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events
* Learning how to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create healthy and delicious dishes
* Supporting stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
Qualifications
Essential:
* A keen interest in cooking and professional catering
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred) – if not already achieved, support will be provided to complete these as part of the apprenticeship
* A willingness to learn and work towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
* A strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to training
* Desirable:
* Previous kitchen experience (not essential, but beneficial)
* A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (if not held, training will be provided)
* Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and hygiene standards
