We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hotel Financial Controller to join our dynamic team at Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa. This senior position is pivotal in overseeing and managing the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business. What you’ll do As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis. You will work closely with senior management to provide critical financial insights that support decision-making and drive profitability. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all financial activities and operations of the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies. Drive cost control initiatives and revenue management strategies to improve profitability. Review and finalise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements ensuring accurate and timely delivery. Lead the preparation of annual budgets, cash flow management, and variance analysis. Monitor and review the hotel’s financial performance, ensuring targets and KPIs are met. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights into financial trends, risks, and opportunities. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and tax obligations. Manage the hotel finance team, providing leadership, training, and performance reviews. Liaise with external auditors, banks, and financial institutions. Key Requirements: Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of hotel financial operations, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards. Strong understanding of USALI is desirable. Experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis. Excellent proficiency in hotel based software (experience with Opera & Journey is an advantage). Excellent proficiency in accounting/financial software (experience with Sage is an advantage). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in maintaining and implementing internal financial controls. Attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders Strong knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc…) Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are highly desirable.
