Overview
We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work in the Psychological Skills Service (PSS). In the Psychological Skills service, occupational therapists understand how developmental trauma impacts brain development, leading to difficulties in sensory modulation, praxis, and cognitive development. These difficulties contribute to later mental health issues and a person’s ability to engage in meaningful occupations, including psychological therapy.
In PSS, the primary role of OT is to work with individuals to understand what is getting in the way of them doing the things they need and want to do, and to re‑establish a quality of life. OT also supports the person to access and use other therapies that may be indicated by PSS colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Work with individuals to identify and overcome barriers to meaningful occupations.
* Support access to and engagement with therapies coordinated by PSS colleagues.
* Apply Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) training to assess and assist people in developing skills related to their sensory processing patterns.
* Collaborate with support workers and receive regular supervision from OT supervisors.
* Document assessments, interventions, and progress in compliance with clinical guidelines.
Travel & Accessibility
Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county, meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle. Public transport is not acceptable for this role.
Training & Qualifications
Levy qualified occupational therapists with experience in psychological services are preferred. Training in Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) is an asset. A full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle are mandatory.
