As part of our team, you’ll help deliver psychological services at HMP Ashfield, including:
1. Completing psychological assessments including HCR-, SARA, WAIS, IPDE and PCL-R
2. Completing parole reports and directions
3. Undertaking psychological assessments of prisoners and individual work, all while fostering an environment focused on safety and rehabilitation
4. Managing and supervising forensic psychologists-in-training and programmes staff
5. Conducting research and consulting with other prison staff
6. Making decisions regarding suitability of candidates for accredited interventions
7. Providing staff training
8. Ensuring all activities adhere to the Code of Conduct
9. You may also be involved in the management and delivery of offending behaviour programmes
HMP Ashfield is a category B male prison with an operational capacity for prisoners. This role offers variety and contributes significantly to stabilising and reintegrating prisoners safely back into society.
Qualifications
Minimum
* We welcome candidates who are close to qualifying, within six months of registration with the HCPC.
* If you’re a forensic psychologist-in-training on the BPS route, you must have completed Stage 1 and most of Stage 2.
* If on the Doctorate route, you must have completed all placements and be within six months of HCPC registration.
* Qualified Forensic Psychologist registered with HCPC.
Knowledge
* Psychological theories regarding treatment of violent and sexual offending.
Additional requirements
* Experience with psychological assessments such as WAIS, HCR-, PCL-R, IPDE.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with offenders and within a multidisciplinary team.
