Job Summary
The role of a Field Services Engineer involves diagnosing and repairing technical issues on various IT equipment including PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and point of sale systems at customer locations around Essex. The engineer will also provide IT hardware support, including installations, moves, and changes across client sites.
Salary and Benefits
Base salary ranges from £27,000 to £29,000 depending on experience. Benefits include a company car, fuel card, and on-call allowances of £44/night or £308/week plus overtime when called out at 1.5 times pay.
Key Responsibilities
1. Travel to various customer sites to deliver IT support services as per contractual requirements.
2. Support a range of IT equipment, including PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and POS systems.
3. Install and troubleshoot hardware and software in diverse environments.
4. Maintain vendor certifications necessary for the role.
5. Follow documented procedures and provide feedback for process improvements.
6. Adhere to safety and ESD precautions.
7. Complete documentation and provide updates on site visits promptly.
8. Participate in an on-call rota, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
9. Support wider teams within the department.
10. Work overtime as needed to meet contractual obligations, with overtime rates applying.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
1. Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware devices.
2. Ability to install and configure software per customer needs.
3. Relevant vendor certifications (Dell, Lenovo, IBM, HP).
4. Understanding of hardware maintenance and repair.
5. Full UK driving license.
6. Ability to obtain UK security clearances (SC, NPPV3).
7. Attention to detail and quality focus.
8. Ability to work independently and remotely.
9. Methodical approach with a right-first-time attitude.
10. Professionalism and a proactive attitude.
11. Results-oriented with a history of exceeding goals.
12. Physical ability to carry equipment and work in tight spaces.
