As we scale our vehicle-centric technology solutions in the UK and farther afield, we require a highly capable Head of Finance to lead our finance function, strengthen financial controls and support strategic growth. This is a newly created role with a functional reporting line to the CEO but supported by wider Group Finance team.
Headquartered in Coleshill near Birmingham alongside our manufacturing facility, the Company supplies to the Fleet, Optimisation, Insurance and Automotive sectors to many well-known customers in the UK and internationally.
Job Purpose
The Head of Finance will act as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for the strategic and operational financial management of the company. You will oversee the full finance function, ensure robust financial reporting, optimise financial processes and systems and provide commercial insight to decision-making. Experience within a manufacturing environment, including stock management and cost control is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Leadership
Lead the financial strategy of the business in line with organisational goals.
Provide strategic financial insight and recommendations to the CEO & Senior Leadership Team.
Drive long‑term business planning, scenario modelling and investment appraisal.
Lead, coach and develop finance team of 4, to ensure high performance and continuous improvement, covering a total of 7 legal entities and an overall annual net revenue of £8M.
Encourage cross-function collaboration, building strong relationships across engineering, operations and commercial teams
Model the highest standards of integrity and ethical decision-making
Operational Finance & Financial Control
Own and optimise all operational finance processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
Oversee month‑end close, management accounts, cash flow forecasting and KPI reporting
Maintain strong internal controls, improving processes around cost management and working capital.
Work closely with Group Finance to ensure timely delivery of monthly reporting and forecasting.
Ensure accurate and timely statutory reporting, liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to the leadership team to aid decision making and provide coaching support for others working on operational finance related tasks
Manufacturing & Stock Control
Manage and improve financial processes relating to manufacturing operations, including:
Standard costing and cost‑of‑production analysis
Bill of materials and manufacturing variance reporting
Stock valuation, stock reconciliations and WIP control
Inventory optimisation and ERP/MRP utilisation
Work closely with operations and production teams to improve manufacturing efficiency and cost transparency.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Finance
Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts.
Deliver insightful financial analysis to support commercial decisions, pricing models and margin improvement.
Provide financial modelling for new product development, capex planning and market expansion.
Cash, Treasury & Compliance
Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships and treasury activities.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit requirements and tax obligations.
Lead financial risk management, identifying and mitigating business risks.
Skills & Experience
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years' post qualified experience in a senior finance leadership role within an SME, ideally within the technology or engineering sector.
Demonstrable experience running a finance function including team leadership, process improvement and financial governance.
Strong operational finance background with hands‑on experience improving day‑to‑day finance processes.
Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of management and statutory accounts.
Strong commercial acumen, analytical capability and excellent attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with ability to partner across technical, commercial and operational teams.
Highly Desirable
Experience in a manufacturing environment, with understanding of:
Cost accounting
Stock management and control
Manufacturing finance workflows
Experience in planning & implementing ERP/MRP migration programmes.
Background in high‑growth or private‑equity‑backed businesses.
Experience improving financial reporting automation and systems.
