Closing Date: Monday 09 June 2025

This is a full-time (1 FTE) position offered for a fixed term period of approximately 12 months.

Libraries have changed, sometimes in unexpected ways, and that change is continuing at a pace. Our Library is committed to being inclusive, user-focused and welcoming to everyone, and this one-year graduate trainee role, for a recent graduate of Lancaster University, will give you direct experience of working across areas that are not considered traditional library business.

The role will be based within the Library’s Open Research team and support their varied activities, while also working alongside other Library colleagues and with a range of EDI stakeholders and groups to deliver engagement events, ensuring at all times that themes of equality, diversity & inclusivity are embedded throughout our work.

You will be a recent Lancaster University graduate (within the last three years) who is enthusiastic about being part of the changing world of libraries. With a passion for EDI, you will be committed to minimising barriers and advancing equality, and the insights of your lived experience will help us to be a Library that is welcoming to all.

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive, a place where we can all be ourselves. We welcome applications from people in diverse groups, particularly encouraging applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

Lancaster University Library has made Equality, Diversity and Inclusion one of the key aims of our vision for 2025. We will represent all the diverse communities that make up our University. We will provide an inclusive, supportive and safe environment where everyone belongs and can contribute to our distinctiveness. For example, as a library we have developed initiatives to decolonise our curriculum and diversify our collection. We are also committed to providing work placement and volunteering opportunities to widening participation groups.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. Consideration will be given to job share applications. We also provide a comprehensive set of staff benefits and development opportunities.

If you have any questions or would like to arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact Leah Burns, Open Research Officer: l.burns4@lancaster.ac.uk. We can also arrange an in-person tour of the library and introduce you to the library team before you apply on request.

You can receive help and support on how to submit an application through the Lancaster University careers service.
