Do you feel strongly about making a difference to our local communities? Exciting opportunities have arisen to join our Cemeteries teams based across North Lanarkshire.
In this key role, you will undertake grass cutting and maintenance work within the Cemeteries over the spring and summer months, rotating to undertake memorial safety work in the autumn and winter. You will receive the opportunity and training to be multi-skilled in both land maintenance and memorial safety operations.
You will have experience of grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, shrub and flower bed maintenance, use of hand tools, litter removal and be familiar with various items of grass cutting equipment. Knowledge of the legislation relating to cemeteries would also be advantageous.
You will require literacy and digital skills to utilise IT devices and systems to record actions and update records. You should be able to undertake physical duties including manual handling of heavier types of materials or labouring work. You will be a positive and enthusiastic individual with a responsible nature and have a courteous manner when dealing with the public. You should also be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
Due to the sensitive nature of the post, the post holder will be required to deal tactfully and sympathetically with bereaved families as well as funeral directors and monumental masons.
You must be educated to SVQ1, Standard Grade level or equivalent with good numeracy and literacy skills, and hold; COTS, NAMM code of practice, and PA1, PA2 & PA6 (Certificate of Competence Pesticide). You must be able to deal with enquiries and complaints from members of the public. You must also have experience in supervising staff.
The post requires a clean and current driving licence as the post involves driving as an integral part of the role.
Work pattern:
37 hours per week - Monday to Thursday - 08:00 - 16:00;
Friday - 08:00 - 15:30;
