MPJ Recruitment is partnering with a respected law firm to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a structured, professional environment and enjoys working with accuracy, compliance, and financial processes.
Based in a modern city‑centre office, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the firm's financial operations, supporting both client and office accounts, and maintaining the highest standards of compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
What You'll Be Doing
Completing daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
Processing a wide range of financial transactions, including receipts, payments, and transfers.
Preparing and issuing client bills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Posting purchase ledger invoices and maintaining supplier accounts.
Carrying out supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
Managing the accounts team mailbox, responding to internal and external queries.
Processing internet banking payments with correct authorisation.
Supporting payroll and maintaining confidential employee financial records.
Ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs).
Handling sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion.
What We're Looking For
Minimum 3 years' experience in an Accounts Assistant or Legal Cashier role.
Recognised accounting qualification such as AAT Level 3, ILFM, or equivalent.
Experience using Xero is a strong advantage.
Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
Confident communicator with the ability to work well within a busy finance team.
Reliable, discreet, and able to handle confidential information appropriately.
