OCU Hornbill (Part of the wider OCU Group)currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Panel DesignEngineer to join our team in Neath.
As a ControlPanel Designer you will be responsible for the design developmentand documentation of control panels tailored to meet the specificrequirements of our clients. Working closely with project managersengineers and customers you will play a key role in translatingtechnical specifications into practical and efficient control paneldesigns.
Duties andResponsibilities:
* UtiliseCAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical) to create detailedschematics layouts and wiring diagrams for control panels based onproject requirements and industrystandards.
* Evaluate andselect appropriate electrical components including PLCs(Programmable Logic Controllers) HMIs (HumanMachine Interfaces)VSDs (Variable Speed Drives) relays sensors and switches ensuringcompatibility functionality andcosteffectiveness.
* Ensurethat control panel designs comply with relevant industry standardsregulations and safety codes and incorporate necessary safetyfeatures to minimize risks andhazards.
* Work closely withelectrical and automation engineers to integrate control paneldesigns into larger systems providing technical expertise andsupport throughout a projectlifecycle.
* Assist with themanagement of the manufacturing process collaborating with workshoppersonnel ensuring the smooth assembly and integration ofelectrical components within the controlpanel.
* Provide handsonsupport during the commissioning phase troubleshooting andresolving any electrical issues that mayarise.
* Assist with projectestimations quotations andtenders.
* Createcomprehensive documentation packages including bill of materials(BOMs) and operation manuals to facilitate manufacturinginstallation and maintenance processes. Provide technical supportand assistance to production teams and field technicians asneeded.
* Conduct thoroughdesign reviews and validation tests to ensure the accuracyfunctionality and reliability of control panel designs addressingany issues or discrepancies in a timelymanner.
* Stay informedabout emerging technologies best practices and industry trendsrelated to control panel design and automation and activelycontribute to process improvements and innovation initiativeswithin theorganisation.
SkillsandExperience:
* Bachelorsdegree in Electrical Engineering or related field is desirable.
* Proven experience in control panel design andlayout preferably in an industrial automation or manufacturingenvironment.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g.AutoCAD Electrical) and familiarity with electrical designstandards and regulations.
* Strong understandingof electrical circuits components and wiring diagrams with theability to interpret technical specifications andschematics.
* Excellent communication andcollaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in amultidisciplinary team environment and interact with clients andstakeholders.
* Detailoriented mindset with afocus on quality and accuracy coupled with problemsolving skillsand the ability to troubleshoot technicalissues.
* Commercially aware and financiallyliterate.
