Job Overview
North Bristol NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Estates Officer with an Electrical HV/LV bias to play a key role in maintaining the safety, resilience and performance of the Trust's electrical infrastructure. This role combines leadership, engineering expertise and project management across the Trust’s major acute hospital estates.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who is looking for a lead role in a fast‑paced, constantly evolving environment. You will have a direct impact on patient care by ensuring safe, reliable engineering services across a major acute hospital.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as an Authorised Person (AP) for electrical systems, ensuring full compliance with statutory legislation, HTMs and Trust policies.
* Lead, develop and motivate teams, supporting staff with sensitive and personal circumstances in a professional, fair and consistent manner.
* Plan and organise resources effectively, efficiently and economically, coordinating resource availability and areas released for maintenance activity.
* Develop and review risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and permit‑to‑work procedures.
* Operate, amend and extract data from labour, helpdesk and maintenance management systems.
* Operate BMS, Microsoft Office and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
Qualifications and Experience
* Educated to a Masters equivalent level in building services/healthcare engineering/mechanical engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
* Registered with the Engineering Council as Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
* Experience as a senior manager of a commercial service provider in estates maintenance, building services or commissioning.
* Completion of an accredited Health & Safety Risk Management training course (IOSH Managing Safety or similar).
* Effective people‑management skills.
* Sound project‑management skills.
* Computer literacy: labour, helpdesk and maintenance management systems.
