Public Procurement Solicitor – National Practice (2+ PQE)
Leeds or Manchester
I’m working with a top‑tier national law firm that is seeking to appoint an experienced solicitor to join its highly regarded cross‑sector public procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside specialists in procurement and commercial law, advising a wide range of public and private sector clients.
The Opportunity
You’ll work with an impressive mix of organisations including central and local government bodies, national agencies, NHS organisations, education institutions, charities, utilities, and suppliers ranging from SMEs to listed companies. The team advises on procurement matters across multiple sectors and is regularly instructed on high‑profile, complex projects.
What You'll Be Doing
You’ll advise on all aspects of public procurement law for both contracting authorities and suppliers, including:
* Drafting and advising on procurement documentation from contract notices to evaluation tools, standstill letters and award decisions
* Providing strategic procurement advice across a wide range of projects
* Supporting and advising on procurement challenges, including High Court proceedings
* Contributing to online resources and sector‑leading procurement materials
* Involvement in business development activities such as training sessions, events, speaking engagements and thought leadership
* Assisting with internal know‑how and precedent development
* Supervising junior team members, trainees and apprentices
While the core focus is public procurement, the team is also keen to hear from candidates who can additionally support with commercial contract drafting.
About You
* Be 2+ PQE with demonstrable experience in public procurement law
* Have strong commercial legal skills and sound public sector awareness
* Be confident managing your own matters and building client relationships
* Bring strong drafting ability and excellent written communication
* Demonstrate commercial acumen and the ability to offer pragmatic, solution‑driven advice
* Have experience or interest in business development and public speaking
* Offer strong organisational, time management and matter management skills
