 
        
        Specialist Diabetes and Adult Weight Management Dietitian
Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 6 dietitian to join its Specialist Adult Dietetic Service in South Staffordshire.
Hours: Ideally 37.5 hours per week, negotiable.
Summary
This role offers an opportunity to work within a friendly team in a dynamic NHS community setting, suitable for an experienced Band 6 dietitian or a Band 5 dietitian with at least one year’s experience who is ready to specialise in diabetes and weight management.
Key Responsibilities
 * Face‑to‑face or telephone clinics, home visits, diabetic pump clinic MDT, carbohydrate counting workshops, emotional eating and behaviour change group workshops.
 * Provide dietary counselling and education to improve knowledge, management skills and confidence in service users and other healthcare professionals.
 * Deliver and evaluate specialist dietetic therapy as part of the wider multidisciplinary care team.
 * Manage a diabetes and weight‑management caseload using evidence‑based, patient‑centred principles.
 * Provide training and education for others (patients, carers and health professionals).
 * Maintain clinical supervision, CPD and personal development opportunities, including trust preceptorship programme.
 * Work in Cannock or Tamworth with an element of working from home; independent travel across Staffordshire.
Qualifications
 * Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
 * Current HCPC Registration.
 * Relevant specialist postgraduate qualification and/or professional courses in a specialist area.
 * Evidence of continued professional development.
 * Full UK driver licence.
Desirable Qualifications
 * Modules at Masters level.
 * Further clinical study in mental health dietetic therapies, obesity and frailty.
 * Post‑graduate courses in relevant area; current BDA Registration.
 * Attendance at relevant special interest groups.
 * Up‑to‑date field work / pre‑registration student training.
 * Member of a British Dietetic Association specialist group.
Experience
 * Clinical experience across diabetes and weight management specialities.
 * Assessment and management of conditions within the area of clinical speciality.
 * Effective time and caseload management.
 * Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with issues.
 * Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
 * Providing training and education for patients, carers and health professionals.
Desirable Experience
 * Negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations.
