About the Role
Croydon Council's Development Management Team is responsible for the full range of planning applications and consents. We are seeking a Technical Support Officer to join our Development Management Technical Support Team, and support the planning service in processing applications. This role is pivotal in supporting our service as we enhance our digital capabilities to better serve Croydon residents and businesses.
As our Technical Support Officer, you will provide essential technical assistance to ensure planning applications are processed efficiently, records are maintained accurately, and our systems operate effectively.
We are willing to consider full time, part-time and flexible working.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the validation and processing of planning applications using our specialist IT system: IDOX Uniform
* Maintain accurate customer records and archive systems in accordance with departmental procedures
* Assist with technical queries from colleagues and customers
* Participate in service development initiatives and team meetings and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience working in an office environment with case management IT systems
* Strong general IT skills including proficiency in Windows, word-processing and email
* The ability to read and scale drawings
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities
* A methodical approach with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
* Customer service focus with a helpful and confident manner
* The ability to work well under pressure while maintaining accuracy
Knowledge of planning legislation, local government operations, and experience with planning-related systems (IDOX Uniform) would be advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
