Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration: 12 months Location: Stevenage, SG1 2BP (on–site 2–3 days per–week) Rate: Negotiable on experience

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative R&D team in Stevenage on a 12–month contract. This role will focus on the design and development of advanced hardware solutions for next–generation bioprocessing technologies.
Responsibilities
* Lead hardware development projects, including new product features and assembly processes.
* Produce design specifications, drawings, prototypes, testing plans, and technical reports.
* Collaborate with suppliers on prototypes and pre–production builds, supporting transfer into manufacturing.
* Conduct laboratory testing to support design validation, verification, and troubleshooting.
* Utilise CAD software and prototyping methods including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection moulding.
Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical/Design Engineering (2:1 or above) or similar.
* 3+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within R&D environments.
* Strong background in component design for processes such as machining, sheet metalwork, and injection moulding.
* Proficiency with 3D CAD packages.
* Practical, hands–on approach to problem solving.
* Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
