The STV Player is the fastest growing broadcast streaming service in the UK, offering viewers an extensive catalogue of content from around the world, including thousands of hours of high-quality drama, sport and factual entertainment series.
This role is a unique opportunity to work on a multi-platform product that reaches a huge audience across the whole of the UK. STV Player is available across all the UK’s connected TV homes and on all major platforms, including Apple, Android, Sky, Virgin Media, Amazon Fire TV, and Freeview Play.
The STV Digital team has transformed the STV Player into a world-class platform. Our challenge is to continue driving innovation, delivering great service and providing fantastic content to any user on any streaming platform
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Manager, Web & Roku to join the team and drive the STV Player forward to its next phase of development and audience engagement.
The Web team owns several key websites and services that power the STV Player, including:
* The main STV Player website: www.stv.tv
* Login and account management portal
* Player’s content management system
* Online payment portal
The Web team are responsible for the first page that many STV Player users see when they first visit, and for the key onboarding and payment journeys.
Working closely with the Head of Product and other STV Player Product Managers, you will be instrumental in delivering product development initiatives, working toward the STV Player vision.
This position sits at the heart of the Digital team and as such will also work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and partners to take projects from definition, business casing, requirements gathering, design to development, testing, release and in-life support.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the STV internal teams to ensure product requirements and business needs are captured, refined and prioritised.
* Translate product vision into user stories and see projects through to their successful delivery and in-life support.
* Lead and inspire the development team for efficient Agile delivery, stakeholder satisfaction and user delight.
* Ensure that projects are delivering to business plan, on time and to expected quality standards.
* Maintain a deep understanding of stakeholder, partner and viewer requirements; The STV Player and its competitive landscape; Product management methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
* Be the go-to person for advice and prioritisation of initiatives, with the ability to arbitrate through business case creation.
* Data-informed, you will be able to represent the Web & Roku team in Digital forums, providing insightful expertise at all levels.
Metrics of Success
Our end-users will ultimately be the judges of our success; therefore, our key metrics are focused on their experience. You will need to be fluent in those, and our ability to influence them.
As examples, we constantly monitor:
* Audience reach and conversion to active usage
* Time spent watching
* Conversion to our paid subscription tiers
* Loyalty through returning usage
As a lean and agile organisation, we are working efficiently: frequent, impactful product deployment on schedule with no/minimal defects.
About you
We are looking for candidates with:
* Experience as an Agile Scrum Product Manager in a web environment is desirable.
* Demonstrable experience with user story creation and refinement is essential.
* Demonstrable experience of owning/driving/defining a product roadmap, in a direct-to-consumer environment is preferable.
* Knowledge of end-to-end Agile product delivery and methodologies.
* Ability to spot and champion product and work practice improvement opportunities.
* Demonstrable experience of structuring complex information for the purpose of opportunity/risk identification, and to facilitate clear communication.
* Highly collaborative team player with proven ability to motivate & influence cross-functional teams
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to succinctly articulate complex problems, engage with industry partners, and gain and maintain buy-in and alignment from Engineering team.
* Proactive and innovative approach, and ability to manage multiple projects in a highly energetic environment.
* Experience in the entertainment, OTT, cable or broadcast industries is preferable.
* Have a keen and critical interest in TV and the streaming landscape.
