The Role – Head of Construction Projects

I am working with a fantastic QSR brand who are growing at pace. I am on a mission to find them a passionate Head of Construction Projects. This is a new role to support their growth trajectory as they open new sites and also to oversee refurbishment projects of their existing estate.
This group do things brilliantly and they have an amazing pipeline of openings scheduled for 2026 and beyond.
We are looking for a real do-er here – hands on and in the thick of it – you will get your buzz from being involved at all levels from start to finish and delivery will be your key driver. This is not the sort of role where you will be joining a large Property team – they are lean and they work hard and love what they do.
So – to be their Head of Construction Projects here’s what you need in your locker:
* 5 years Experience of restaurant construction projects. Both for new openings and refit / refurb.
* A good deal of programme management – pre-construction experience
* Thrive in a fast-paced hands-on role, taking ownership and accountability
* Proven capability of managing multiple projects at once
* Be highly skilled at working with external teams and contractors
* Highly capable of adding some ‘lesson learnt’ structure – post project analysis to enable improvement
* Excellent budget and cost control skills
* Exceptionally high standards – Quality results every time – On time!
* Experience managing consultants, contractors and suppliers – Tendering, negotiating and cracking the whip.
* Ensure that the planning, management, and monitoring of the project are compliant with the relevant requirements for Health and Safety, Building Regulations, and Fire Safety.
* Be a true team player, collaborating with teams across Property, Operations, Marketing, Openings, Finance etc.
While having fun and enjoying your job is hugely encouraged, you’ll need a serious side too. You will be responsible for understanding and fulfilling Building Safety Act and ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with the new competency requirements imposed by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
