We are the University of Cumbria, serving our communities with a focus on people, place, and partnership. We are currently implementing our 'Towards 2030' strategic plan to leverage these assets for regional and national economic growth.
The University has extensive experience in paramedic education, with over 1100 learners on CPD programmes and partnerships with nine out of eleven English ambulance services. We also have an open access paramedic course at Lancaster and have established the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice (CEPP), which has recently gained Preferred Provider Status for several ambulance services for paramedic degree apprenticeships. Currently, over 1400 learners are enrolled across six apprenticeship programmes.
We are seeking applications for a 2-year fixed-term contract as an "Apprenticeship Personal Tutor". The successful candidate will collaborate with the North West academic team to support the University's BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science, specifically assisting ambulance staff undertaking the new Paramedic Science Degree Apprenticeship.
The role is based in Lancaster at the UoC Campus, with hybrid working arrangements to be discussed during the interview. Responsibilities include providing support, advice, and guidance to degree apprentices, conducting tripartite reviews with employees and employers, acting as the first point of contact for apprentices, and assisting with portfolio development and timesheet submissions.
The University values diversity and inclusion, striving to create a fair environment for employees, students, and visitors. We believe that embracing differences enhances our community and helps us meet our strategic goals, including attracting diverse staff and students, improving our environment, and achieving our institutional mission.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary, a 35-hour full-time workweek, 33 days of holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working options, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contributions.
