The Role: We are working with a well-established manufacturer and distributor of medicines, medical devices, and general pharmacy products who have a rich history spanning over a century. The Operations Department is led by the Director of Operations and has responsibility for production, logistics, engineering, health and safety and site management. Working in a highly regulated industry quality compliance is seen as a companywide responsibility and a critical area of focus for the team. Role Summary: Joining our experienced Operations Team, the Assistant Production Manager will play a key role in ensuring the timely delivery of our products while upholding the highest standards of compliance and quality. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role involves supporting and managing a team of Production Operatives, contributing to various facets of operational success. Roles and Responsibilities: Product: Ensure manufacturing and packing align with production plans and GMP/regulatory requirements. Oversee manufacturing documentation and assign duties to the Production Operative Team. Monitor production performance, equipment availability, and adherence to schedules. Scheduling: Allocate daily workloads, manage team productivity, and optimize resources for quality and efficiency. Create realistic short-term schedules in line with departmental targets and customer demand. Compliance: Uphold GMP and EHS procedures, review practices, and contribute to policy updates. Address deviations and escalate issues when necessary to the Production Manager. Training & Employee Support: Collaborate with the Production Manager to ensure comprehensive team training. Support Production Operatives in meeting objectives and enhancing processes. Manage performance, absence, and development plans of team members, including conflict resolution. General: Implement Best Practices, record KPI data, and propose improvements to enhance productivity and safety. Manage daily operations, including waste management, environment monitoring, and materials assembly. Collaborate with the Warehouse and Operational Management for timely material delivery and collection. Maintain stock levels of consumables and Personal Protective Equipment. General Approach to Working: Uphold high standards, follow company policies, and exhibit a supportive, team-oriented mindset. Demonstrate organizational skills and flexibility to meet customer needs and KPIs while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 5 years in a GMP production environment. GCSE level numeracy and literacy skills or equivalent. Proficiency in computer applications, including Excel. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. The Package: As the Assistant Production Manager, you’ll receive a starting salary of £33,000 - £38,000 4% company pension other benefits.
