Purchasing Officer
Finance Department
Wakefield
Salary of £24,222 - £25,626 per annum
1 full time permanent position (37 hours per week)
The West Yorkshire Police’s city centre based Finance Department is wishing to recruit a driven, organised and committed individual to undertake the role of Purchasing Officer. You will work as part of a small, professional team to provide a comprehensive requisition, ordering and invoicing service to guarantee that goods and services requested by Force personnel are procured and paid for in the most cost-effective manner to ensure best use of Force resources.
You will be responsible for:
Providing consistent, practical and comprehensive day-to-day advice and assistance to customers across the Force to ensure that goods and services are sourced timely using appropriate contracts and Force approved suppliers in line with financial statutory regulations.
Scrutinise and challenge requests where appropriate from customers whilst ensuring that all orders placed fully represent anticipated spend in support of accurate budgeting.
Using Force issue Purchase Cards to procure goods and services in line with Force Policy coding transactions made to the appropriate budget head weekly and retaining all relevant paperwork for VAT/HMRC purposes.
Provide single point of contact support to customers and suppliers in respect of committed expenditure to ensure that expenditure is charged to the financial year in which it was incurred and resolve queries regarding orders including none delivery and delivery variation
