Health Care Support Worker - Ophthalmology
An opportunity has become available for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to support the existing Multidisciplinary team in Ophthalmology outpatients with rotation to Ophthalmology theatres, as you build and develop competencies within the department.
Car driver essential as we cover community clinics. The role requires access to a car for work off site in community hospital settings (Leominster, Bromyard and Ross).
Previous ophthalmology experience is essential.
The role within Ophthalmology offers an opportunity to learn a variety of new specialised skills to support our patients.
Main duties of the job
The HCSW role within Ophthalmology will involve care of patients whilst they attend ophthalmology outpatients, eye casualty, day case and theatres.
The role supports the multidisciplinary team by obtaining a variety of ophthalmology specialised observations, patient observations, whilst supporting the throughput of patients in various areas.

Education & Qualifications
* Minimum Maths and English GCSE grades 3‑9 or grades A,B,C,D or equivalent Functional Skills qualifications
* Willingness to undertake the Maths and English Functional Skills qualifications
* Diploma level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
* Care certificate
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
* Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
* Knowledge of administrative and demonstrable organisational skills
Experience
* Working with people
* Previous experience in ophthalmology outpatient & theatres
