Assistant Finance Business Partner Location: Northampton Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday Salary: £36,377 A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Finance Business Partner to join a Finance team in Northampton on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with budget holders, analysing financial performance, and supporting effective business decision-making. The Role The Assistant Finance Business Partner will support managers and budget holders across the organisation by providing accurate financial information, analysis and guidance. This includes producing KPIs, monitoring budgets, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role also provides essential support to the Senior Finance Business Partner in delivering an efficient and reliable financial service. Duties Deliver a high-quality business partnering service to operational and support teams. Complete monthly budget monitoring, providing timely, accurate financial insights. Assist with capital reporting and carry out detailed expenditure analysis. Produce forecasts and act as a key point of contact for allocated budget holders. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and drive cost savings. Produce and maintain financial KPIs. Carry out voids monitoring and analysis where relevant. Complete supplier payment certifications (excluding Asset Development). Prepare and process prepayments and accruals journals. Provide supporting information for annual statutory accounts. Support the development and production of annual budgets. Contribute to procurement processes and maintain consistency in financial management practices. Participate in finance meetings and support continuous improvement within the team. Ensure processes and procedures are kept up to date and followed consistently. Build strong working relationships with managers, the Senior Finance Business Partner and the Financial Controller. Keep up to date with relevant accounting standards and regulatory frameworks. Deliver work that represents value for money and supports organisational objectives.The Candidate The ideal candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills, Excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders. You will be proactive, organised, and able to manage competing deadlines effectively. AAT qualification or a relevant finance/accounting degree. Experience preparing management accounting information. Strong numeracy and intermediate Excel skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Good customer service approach and strong problem-solving ability.Desirable Criteria Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA. Previous experience in a Finance Business Partnering environment
