We are currently seeking an Engineering Mentors/Recruiter to join our dynamic team in Wigan (North Region). Reporting to the Senior Mentor you’ll play a pivotal role in the development of the next generation of engineers in the public transport sector. This role is integral to our mission to enhance apprenticeship and training standards, supporting both technical development and fostering a diverse workforce.
Principal Accountabilities
* Mentorship & Support: Conduct regular reviews with apprentices at both the training centre and garages. Identify and address challenges to ensure apprentice success.
* Collaboration & Engagement: Work with operational representatives to discuss apprentice progression and needs. Build relationships with regional education authorities to access STEM schools and encourage young people to pursue engineering apprenticeships.
* Initiative Promotion: Contribute to the 'Go-Ahead Women’ initiative by supporting programs that promote diversity and inclusion within the industry.
* Ongoing Development: Stay current with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices to provide the highest level of support and guidance to apprentices.
* Regional Support: Travel regularly to support apprentices and education providers across the region and, when necessary, assist other regions.
Knowledge & Experience
* Engineering qualification within the PSV industry
* Proven experience in coaching and mentoring apprentices, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Ability to adapt to a flexible working schedule, with frequent travel to regional locations.
* Enhanced DBS check required (to work in schools and with apprentices under 18).
* A passion for developing talent and making a difference in the engineering sector.
* Willingness to support the promotion of diversity and inclusivity within the workforce.
