Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include:
* Recording and reporting accurately any changes related to the patient’s current behaviour and/or risks to Nurse/healthcare professional in a timely manner.
* Recording care given and reporting omissions accurately and in a timely manner.
* Promoting a healthy, safe and secure environment by adhering to Trust statutory health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in compliance with Trust policies, procedures, protocols and guidance.
* Supporting new team members.
* Demonstrating a professional approach to work and abide by the Trust values.
* To provide comfort, compassion, empathy and time to patients and their carers, family and loved ones.
* Undertake and maintain all essential training to role.
* Working confidently in a variety of environments which present different challenges whilst continuing to act in a professional manner.
* Balancing all aspects of the job role across the 5‑day working week.
* Being flexible and responsive to competing demand.
* Offering appropriate support and advice to the patients.
* Enable patients to maintain and improve their independence by promoting involvement in the therapeutic activity programme.
* Give physical care as required or instructed.
Training and Qualifications
* Good general education, competent in literacy and numeracy Care certificate or ability to work towards Evidence of GCSE or equivalent.
* Education experience in Health/Social Care.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes (unless disability).
Experience
* Experience of working in a mental health ward environment.
* Previous experience working in perinatal mental health.
Knowledge & Skills
* Awareness of mental health disorders/diagnoses, good communication skills (verbal and written), ability to work flexibly.
* Good knowledge of physical health monitoring.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Compensation and Benefits
* Annual salary: £25,760 to £27,476 per annum.
* High‑Cost Area (HCA) allowance (London Weighting) up to 5% of basic salary, with minimum £1,346 and maximum £2,270 per year, paid monthly.
* Additional payment for working in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley.
