£13.63 per hour
Set on the edge of Burley village in the New Forest, YHA New Forest is a small hostel popular with cyclists and families. The site is busy in summer with glamping pods, bell tents, and nearby walking and cycle routes. The role is for a seasonal Duty Manager who will be involved in all aspects of hostel operations – from daily housekeeping, kitchen duties, to reception work.

What will you be doing as a Duty Manager?
- Guiding and supporting team members working in all areas of the hostel, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Using our systems for efficient guest check‑ins and check‑outs, food and beverage sales, and other management functions.
- Carrying out housekeeping duties, ensuring a comfortable, clean environment for all visitors.
- Assisting in the preparation of food and serving drinks with genuine warmth and hospitality to influence guest satisfaction and sales.
- Deputising for the Hostel/Deputy Manager, managing the daily hostel operation in their absence.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Duty Manager?
- Experience working face‑to‑face with customers.
- Experience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality service.
- Experience managing a team – leading others and providing guidance (desirable).
- Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable).
- Ability to manage varying pressures, prioritise tasks, and handle conflicting duties.
- Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA and what we do.
- Demonstration of our HEART values in everyday work.
