Resident Consultant Paediatrician
Full time, 10 PAs, post at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Summary
Consultant Paediatrician with experience in level 2 neonates, providing consultant‑led care in a busy DGH with substantial NNU.
Main duties
* Consultant‑led care and supervision for junior and nursing staff 24/7.
* 6‑week rolling rota, 7 nights in 6 weeks plus clinical time in outpatient clinics, Paediatric Ambulatory Unit or level 2 NNU.
* 2 weeks off within every 6‑week block.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration (or eligibility).
* MRCPCH or equivalent.
* CCT in Paediatrics and on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from interview date.
* Newborn Life Support (NLS) certification.
* Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certification.
Desirable
* Higher degree (MD/PhD/MBA).
* Instructor for NLS/APLS.
* Qualification in Medical Education.
Clinical Experience
* Wide range of paediatric experience including acute paediatrics and neonatology in tertiary centre at middle grade or above.
* Good experience in child safeguarding, serious case review/IMR.
Specific Additional Skills
* Competency in paediatric procedures and neonatal procedures.
* Interest in ambulatory paediatrics and/or neonatology.
* Subsidiary subspecialty interest.
Management and Training
* Clinical governance awareness.
* Management experience.
* Teaching and training of undergraduates and junior doctors.
* Clinical audit experience.
Personal Qualities
* Leadership skills within multidisciplinary team.
* Motivation, facilitation of clinical practice change.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Commitment to professional development and clinical governance.
