Shift and schedule:
Shift pattern:
160 hours per month (average 40 hours per week)
Rota basis: 2 days on + sleep-in, followed by 4 days off

This is a key leadership role supporting children and young people within a residential care setting, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and operational excellence. You will play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager, leading the team, and helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
We are looking for a confident and experienced individual who can lead by example, inspire a team, and contribute to the smooth running of the home. This role is ideal for someone ready to step into senior leadership and progress within residential childcare.

Company and Role:
* Supporting children and young people in a residential care setting
* Leading and developing a team of support staff
* Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home
* Ensuring compliance with Childrens Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
* Supporting the management of the home and deputising in the Managers absence
* Leading shifts and providing guidance and direction to staff
* Supervising staff performance and supporting development
* Ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
* Supporting care planning, reviews, and outcomes for young people
* Managing health & safety processes and risk assessments within the home
* Supporting audits, inspections (Ofsted), and quality assurance processes
* Liaising with external professionals including local authorities, schools, and health services
* Supporting budget awareness and resource management within the home
* Leading and supporting staff induction, training, and ongoing development
Household responsibilities include:
* Ensuring the home environment is safe, welcoming, and well-maintained

* Promoting a positive and homely environment for young people
Successful Candidate:
* Previous experience in childrens residential care (essential)
* Experience in a senior or leadership role (preferred)
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and Childrens Homes Regulations
* Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
* Confident decision-maker with a calm and resilient approach
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Flexible to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends
* Commitment to continuous professional development
