Client Overview:
Loom Talent has partnered with a well-known 3PL provider, renowned for delivering top-notch logistics solutions across sectors including FMCG, Retail, E-Commerce & Haulage.
The company prides itself on delivering excellent service and is seeking a Transport General Manager - 3PL Contract Logistics to oversee the end-to-end group sector Transport function.
The Role:
As the Transport General Manager, you will oversee multi-site transport operations, managing a team of over 300 employees and 400 vehicles. Responsibilities include:
* Leading the national planning team of 6 experts.
* Managing Transport Health & Safety, Driver Training, and Risk Assessors.
* Handling an annual budget of approximately £50m.
* Leading operational H&S, compliance, and fleet maintenance across national transport.
* Optimising logistics operations through internal synergy and continuous improvement in an open book environment.
* Implementing best practices and utilizing TMS & Planning platforms effectively.
* Supporting individual development and providing growth opportunities.
The Candidate:
Ideal candidates will have:
* Essential experience in Logistics, Distribution, and Supply Chain.
* Essential CPC National / International qualification.
* 5+ years of Transport General Management experience in a 3PL, FMCG, or Retail setting.
* Proven experience managing operations with headcount over 250 and assets over 350.
* Budget management experience of over £40m.
* A passion for people development, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
* Experience dealing with Unions (advantageous).
* Strong leadership skills and talent development abilities (essential).
* Lean Six Sigma or Prince2 certifications (advantageous).
* Must be able to commute to Northamptonshire 5 days a week (essential).
