We have an exciting secondment opportunity for a Sister/Charge Nurse position within our Children's Emergency Departments for a period of 14 months.
We are looking for enthusiastic, committed, and hardworking individuals to join our Children’s ED team. You must be able to work well under pressure and have a willingness to learn and develop your own skills. If this is you, we would be delighted to hear from you.
You will be expected to provide the highest standard of evidence based; patient centered care. You will have a passion for education training and development of staff which ultimately impact on the patients. Most importantly, you will share our PRIDE values and our desire to continue to improve. Our busy Children's Emergency Departments cover two sites - Queens Hospital in Romford and King George's Hospital in Goodmayes.
Although this position is a 14 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 14 months.
Main duties of the job
To provide expert emergency care to children and their families that attend our two children’s emergency departments at King George and Queens Hospital. Provide support to the senior sister/charge nurse. Act as nurse in charge of the department when on shift. Support junior staff and participate in management of the team.

We deliver a comprehensive range of general Paediatric and Surgical Services to our local communities. These are amongst the busiest Children's EDs in the country and we are always looking to build our team to provide the best service possible. Our CED team is constantly expanding, to support this you will be learning and developing your knowledge whilst ensuring your skills are kept fully up to date. You will be supported by our Senior Sisters, Matron and members of the wider MDT Team.
