BBC Education is recruiting an Assistant Producer for the BBC 500 Words competition, a major children's story writing contest celebrating creativity. Since 2011, it has received over a million stories and is now a pan-BBC initiative involving multiple programs and external partners.
The role involves assisting with the competition's daily operations, including judging, website updates, content creation, and promotion to schools.
Main Responsibilities
You should be able to write, create, and edit content for digital platforms aimed at young audiences. Responsibilities include managing story submissions, supporting judges, promoting the competition, and coordinating prizes.
Candidate Requirements
* Strong communication skills, experience working with diverse stakeholders
* Proficiency with content management systems, Photoshop, Premiere Pro
* Experience creating social media content, short films, and graphics
* Audience-focused with awareness of school-age audiences and teachers
* Excellent planning, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
* Sound editorial judgment and knowledge of editorial and legal guidelines
Desirable: Experience as a self-shooter producing and editing short films, and creating social media strategies.
