Job responsibilities
Job Summary Practice based Paramedic
* This role is suitable for an Experienced Paramedic to work as part of the clinical team who will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare to patients.
* The post holder would be offering treatment and advice for acute and minor illnesses and ideally hold a prescribing qualification.
* This role may be required to work across one of our 6 sites.
* Salary dependant on experience
Main Duties
* Management of Chronic Diseases including Diabetes
* Supervising/Training/Mentoring Medical Students and Staff
* Clinical Research and future involvement in PCN clinical activities
* Work across both Practices Sites
Responsibilities
* Ensure their clinical practice is safe and effective, remains within the boundaries of competence and acknowledge their limitations.
* Contribute to clinical leadership within the practice.
* Be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of minor illness, chronic disease management programmes, which include asthma, diabetes, COPD, CHD, hypertension and anti-coagulation. This list is not exhaustive and part of the role is to consider with the partners which other areas of care might be suited to nurse management. The nurse will carry managerial and clinical responsibility for her own caseload and patients will have direct access to her/him.
* Develop a role in the care of minor illness and injury. This will include the competence to see an undifferentiated caseload and recognise their own scope of practice.
* Prescribe medication for patients as appropriate and in partnership with the GP and maintain their prescribing competencies.
* Be involved in regular medication reviews and medicines management.
* Request and interpret tests as appropriate to patient need.
* Make referrals to other health professionals in primary and secondary care. Patients with problems requiring referral to secondary care should be discussed with the registered GP.
Give clinical advice and support to other health care professionals and external agencies.
Qualifications
* Previous experience as a Paramedic or in a similar role
* Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
* Ability to administer injections and medications
* Skilled in patient care and triage procedures
* Driving licence required
