A well-established main contractor with a strong pipeline of high-profile stadium and commercial developments is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join their team in Worcestershire. The company has a reputation for delivering complex, large-scale projects and prides itself on strong technical leadership and collaborative project delivery.
The Role
As Senior Design Manager, you will take a leading role in managing and coordinating the design process across major stadium and commercial construction projects. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors, you will ensure that designs are technically robust, cost-effective, and aligned with project programmes.
This role is primarily office-based, with involvement across multiple live and upcoming schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
* Coordinate design teams, consultants, and specialist subcontractors.
* Review and manage design programmes, ensuring milestones are met.
* Provide technical oversight, particularly relating to steel frame construction and complex structural interfaces.
* Work closely with commercial and project management teams to ensure buildability and value engineering opportunities are maximised.
* Manage design risk, compliance, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, client specifications, and industry standards.
* Support tender submissions and pre-construction design development where required.
Requirements
* Proven experience working as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager for a main contractor.
* Strong experience delivering stadium, large-scale commercial, or complex structural projects.
* Solid technical background with steel frame construction knowledge.
* Ability to manage multiple design packages and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Relevant construction or engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred).
