An opportunity exists in the Council’s Environmental Services for a Lead Pesticides Operative working from our Depot at Normanton.
What will be expected from me?
The post holder will be part of a frontline and operational team, delivering a high quality citizen focused service within a neighbourhood across Wakefield districts, delivering safer and stronger communities by improving environmental quality and increasing the sense of community pride in neighbourhoods.
What I might be doing?
1. To supervise on a day to day basis, Pesticides Operatives to support the effective delivery of services.
2. You will be working within recognised safe systems and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation.
3. To undertake street cleansing and weed activities by use of quad weed spraying and hand held spraying equipment, in a flexible manner, providing a citizen focused service which delivers safer and stronger communities by improving environmental quality and increasing the sense of community pride in neighbourhoods.
Essential requirements:
4. Appropriate Supervisory Experience
5. Health and Safety Awareness
6. Basic First Aid
7. Driving License category C1 (up to 7.5t)
8. ILM Certificate in Team Leader, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification relevant to the post
9. Membership of a recognised CPD updating scheme for pesticides use in the amenity secor (BASIS/NaSOR).
10. C&G PA1, PA2A AND PA6A Pesticides Application Certificate.
