Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, and other, using aseptic technique. (Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions for IV Room assignments and prepacking.)
* Fill unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions, and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo & OB.
* Deliver unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solutions, and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units. (Must be able to walk and/or stand for assigned shift)
* Fill medication labels, subject to final check by a pharmacist.
* Prepare pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
* Assist with inventory control of supplies and medications. Receive and shelve supplies and medications. Perform cycle counts and monthly review of stock for expired medications.
* Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils, and work areas.

Education/Experience Required:
* Must be 18 years of age or older
* Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam; all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee
* Must know basic IV admixture processes as well as sterile procedures.
* Must have good math, computer, and communication skills.
* Must have clear understanding of medication names (brand and generic), common dosing and sig codes, and medical terminology.
* High School Diploma or equivalent
Registration/Certification:
* Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Technician
* Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board). If not certified, must obtain certification within 90 days of start.
* Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB.
