A blind man in Durham is seeking a reliable and compassionate Personal Support Assistant to help him maintain independence in his daily life. You will also provide occasional support to his visually impaired wife. The role involves assisting with various tasks, including attending appointments, shopping, visiting family, reading post, and light house maintenance. As the individual drives a Motability car, a clean UK driving licence is essential for this position.
Hours: 12 hours per week, £13.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide practical support to enable independent living.
• Assist with travel to appointments, shopping, and social visits.
• Read and organise post as required.
• Offer support with minor house maintenance tasks.
• Drive the individual’s Motability vehicle when necessary.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to facilitate daily activities.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
• A clean UK driving licence is essential.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear verbal guidance.
• A patient and caring nature, with a respectful and supportive approach.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Experience supporting individuals with visual impairments is beneficial but not essential.
