Stores Assistant
The role
Participate in the goods receipt and goods despatch processes ensuring the smooth flow of goods from incoming deliveries to outgoing shipments. This involves verifying receipts, picking orders, preparing shipments and ensuring accurate record-keeping and stock management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Goods Receipt:
• Receiving and unloading incoming deliveries.
• Checking incoming deliveries against the relevant paperwork for accuracy, reporting any issues or deficiencies identified to the Materials Coordinator.
• Processing goods receipt documentation and updating inventory systems.
• Storing goods correctly in the warehouse, considering stock rotation and optimal storage conditions.
Goods Despatch:
• Preparing orders for shipment, including picking, packing, and labelling.
• Verifying order accuracy against delivery documents.
• Preparing and dispatching of goods to customers.
General Warehouse Duties:
• Assist with stock control, cycle counts, and inventory management.
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
• Perform urgent local deliveries in company vehicles where delivery is time sensitive.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Accurately maintain records and data in a timely manner ensuring security, preservation and readiness is maintained.
Stakeholder Interaction:
• Develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues and Customers.
• Support colleagues and other departments with stock-related requests.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and certification:
• Full UK driving licence for manual transmission vehicles.
• National 5 Pass in English & Maths (or equivalent).
• Forklift B1 certificate (desired but not essential).
Knowledge:
• Basic computer literacy and use of MS Office. Knowledge of inventory software is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:
• Good communication, numeracy and literacy skills.
• Good organisational skills, ability to work to a schedule and achieve specific deadlines.
• Physically fit and able to lift/move items as required.
Experience:
• Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment is desirable.
Personal qualities:
• Self-starter, positive, reliable and punctual.
• Requires little to no supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
• Strong attention to detail, works to high standards
