The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of payroll (including: straight and overtime wages; withholdings for federal, state, and local taxes; deductions for employee benefits and garnishments) and all associated records and systems maintenance
Responsibilities:
* Processes and records payroll data accurately and on a timely basis
* Communicates and collaborates with the Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity of the payroll data, including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers, and rate changes.
* Processes special payrolls including the annual bonus and year-end adjustment payrolls.
* Ensures that state and federal payroll related filings are completed as required.
* Provides excellent customer service to managers, employees, and agencies by researching and resolving questions related to the processing of payroll information such as PTO, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, and other changes.
* Ensures compliance with internal controls in accordance with policy.
* Looks for areas of process improvement to ensure efficient and effective processing.
* Provides information for monthly key performance indicators.
* Assists in special projects as required

Education and Experience:
* Requires 2+ years experience within the payroll function
* Associate Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
* Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

* Experience and competent in the use of ADP Workforce Now is preferred
* Experience and competent in the use of integrated ERP software (SAP experience preferred)
