Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for progressive and innovative Mental Health Nurses (RMN) to join the Perinatal Mental Health Team within NHS Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. This is a Fife-wide service, and the successful post holders will initially be employed on a Fixed Term Contract until the end of September 2024, with further funding to be agreed.
The Perinatal Mental Health Nurse will focus on prevention, detection, early intervention, care, and treatment of mental illness occurring in women during pregnancy or in the first postnatal year. They will also provide pre-conception advice for women at high risk of postpartum mental illness, assess and facilitate the mother-infant relationship, and promote infant development in the context of maternal mental illness. Acting as a Mental Health Liaison Nurse to the wider maternity service, you will be committed to partnership working and establishing strong professional relationships.
The role requires adaptability to a changing and demanding environment. You will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care to women experiencing mental health difficulties during the perinatal period across various diagnoses and complexities. This involves exercising initiative and autonomy to handle unpredictable referrals and complex demands. There will also be opportunities to provide learning for peers, student nurses, medical students in both general and mental health placements, and other healthcare professionals.
Applications are invited from experienced RMNs demonstrating enhanced skills, knowledge, and experience working with patients with a range of mental health problems. Significant Band 5 experience, preferably in community and/or perinatal settings, is desirable.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in team working, problem-solving, flexibility, excellent communication skills, and ongoing professional development. A commitment to partnership working with stakeholders is essential.
You will receive comprehensive induction, mentorship, clinical/caseload supervision, and support for educational development.
The service operates during office hours, Monday to Friday.
