Salary: Grade H. Scale 29 - £39,862 to Scale 34 - £45,091 with a professional bar at SCP 31 £41,771**

Hours Per Week: 36hours

Base Location: Ashton Under Lyne Pennine Care Trust HQ

The Role

Join Our Team as an Adult social Care Mental Health Social Worker Leading on Section 117 of the Mental Health Act

Tameside Adult Social Care is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Mental Health Social Worker to lead on Section 117 responsibilities and drive excellence in Support planning, reviews, and community integration. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team that values creativity, partnership, and the principles of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Health Act 1983.

Your main duties as a S117 Mental Health Social Worker, will be:

* Lead Care Act Reviews for individuals under Section 117, ensuring their needs are met across various care settings.
* Deliver Timely Care Management by maintaining regular reviews and ongoing support, advice and monitoring eligibility for S117.
* Maintain Accurate Records by updating all care documentation on the LAS system.
* Support Hospital Discharges through collaborative planning, support and funding with health partners, attending discharge meetings.
* Promote Independence using strengths-based approaches and community resources.
* Review Eligibility & Reassess Needs, including managing discharges from Section 117 in partnership with the ICB.
* Engage in Multi-Disciplinary Working by attending MDTs and staying current on funding protocols.
* Provide Expert Guidance and training to colleagues About Section 117 of the Mental Health act
* Contribute to Policy Development by helping shape integrated Section 117 procedures and best practices.

About You

* Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
* Experience in mental health social work and knowledge of Section 117.
* Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding principles.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and partnership-building skills.
* Passion for person-centred, strengths-based practice.

** This post is classified as being in a professional job category. As such the grade for the job has a professional grade development bar which employees can progress through subject to meeting the following criteria:

1. Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above, AND

2. Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the role, AND

3. Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is a requirement to practice in the role where applicable, AND

4. Professional standards practised to the highest expected level.
