Band 8a for experienced Psychologist and / or Opportunity for candidates to be supported under Annex 21 who are: newly qualified or individuals requiring further development working currently at a band 7.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to join the Rehabilitation and Recovery (R&R) Service in Swansea.

The R&R service covers a range of services, including a Low Secure Unit (Bridgend), Prison Inreach Team (HMP Swansea), Locked Rehabilitation Unit / Step Down Houses (Swansea), Community Forensic Team (Swansea) and Specialist Perinatal Services (Neath).

The post holder will be based within the Gwelfor High Dependency (locked) Rehabilitation Unit, Cefn Coed Hospital and adjacent, Step Down Houses, and be expected to provide a specialist psychology service in addition to supporting the Principal Psychologist in driving quality improvement and service development within the service.

You will receive regular supervision from an experienced Psychologist, and will join a supportive Psychology department. As a Psychology service, we support a trauma-informed, strengths-based and collaborative approach, drawing on a range of psychological models and approaches, including recovery, positive psychology, compassion-focused, good lives and systemic.

There are strong teaching and placement links with psychology courses in South Wales and the South West of England.

Main duties of the job

Provide a specialist psychology service within rehabilitation services including, provision of supervision to other R&R psychologists. This will include a direct clinical service into two service areas, our Locked Rehabilitation Unit and Step Down houses that involves direct assessment, formulation, and intervention to service users, their families & informal and professional carers. Supporting colleagues in the team through provision of reflective practice, team formulation, consultation and training.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of psychological assessments and evidence based interventions, for clients with complex psychological needs to aid them in their recovery and reduce risk. The post holder will be an active member of the Rehabilitation service by contributing to service evaluation, audit and training, in addition to the clinical supervision of assistant and trainee psychologists.

The health board actively encourages and supports research and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The post holder will have access to regular clinical supervision and training opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applicants should have a post graduate qualification in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology and previous experience of working within an adult mental health or forensic setting.
