Grwp Llandrillo Menai was established in 2012 through mergers between Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai, and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. It employs 2,000 staff and offers courses to around 21,000 students, including over 1,500 higher education students, across Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, and Gwynedd.
The Grwp aims to support the North Wales economy by equipping local people with the skills and qualifications needed to ensure regional competitiveness and success. Job Purpose
We are seeking sessional lecturers in Health and Social Care, Childhood Studies, and Children's Development and Education. Teaching includes modules from the Health and Social Care FdA/BA (Levels 4-6), Childhood Studies FdA/BA, and Further Education daytime provision in Health and Social Care and Childhood.
HE teaching occurs on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays between 9 am and 9 pm, while FE teaching typically takes place during weekdays from 09:00 to 16:30. The timetable and hours depend on your availability and the modules taught.
Applications are especially welcomed from individuals with recent experience in nursing, healthcare, social work, social care, or children's care and development, particularly those familiar with current legislation, policies, and issues in these sectors.
Modules and topics include Public Health and Health Promotion, Global Inequalities, Diversity and Social Issues, Ethical Principles in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, Issues in ALN, Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, Individual Rights and Professional Practice, Professional Identity and Multi-Professional Working, Contemporary Education Perspectives, Supporting Children with Additional Learning Needs, among others. The role offers development opportunities supported by Programme Leaders, Coordinators, and Mentors. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering engaging lectures, administration, assessment, and quality assurance. We promote practical and active teaching methods to enhance learning, drawing on your experiences to deepen learners' understanding of careers in Health and Social Care or Childhood sectors.
Our ideal candidate will have previous teaching and industry experience, though we also welcome sector experts new to teaching.
Hours of Work – Up to 250 hours during the 2025/26 academic year, scheduled based on availability.
Working Weeks – Up to 35 weeks per year.
Annual Leave – Pro-rata paid holiday entitlement, including 8 bank/public holidays observed in Wales, and up to 5 efficiency days (subject to change). This is based on a full-time equivalent of 46 days and included in the hourly rate.
