Overview
A leading professional services organisation is seeking a Senior Consultant – AI Engineer to join its AI & Data Financial Services team, focused on delivering AI-driven transformation across the banking sector.
This role sits within a high-performing engineering team helping financial institutions design, build, and scale AI-powered systems and data platforms. You will work across the full lifecycle of delivery—from early architecture and prototyping through to deployment and operationalisation of AI solutions.
The role is heavily focused on applied AI engineering, agentic systems, and large-scale data transformation programmes, supporting clients to modernise core banking capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Translate client vision into AI architecture strategies and delivery roadmaps
2. Deliver rapid AI prototypes to validate technical and business hypotheses
3. Build AI agents and production-grade AI systems as part of transformation programmes
4. Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders
5. Evaluate and select technologies across open-source and commercial ecosystems
6. Support AI deployment design decisions including integration and serving patterns
7. Work with security and risk teams to ensure ethical, compliant AI systems
8. Produce documentation for technical governance and architecture review boards
9. Build strong client relationships with technology and business stakeholders
10. Contribute to proposals, business cases, and ROI analysis
11. Mentor junior team members through coaching and on-the-job development
Required Skills & Experience
12. Strong experience in software/data engineering with applied AI (Python, SQL)
13. Experience working in Financial Services, ideally Banking
14. Ability to design and build AI agents and prototype systems at speed
15. Strong understanding of Agile / SAFe / XP delivery methodologies
16. Deep knowledge of LLMs: prompt engineering, embeddings, fine-tuning, RAG
17. Experience with vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Chroma)
18. Experience with agent frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LangGraph, or similar)
19. Exposure to MCP is highly desirable
20. Strong Python engineering capability
21. Experience working with modern data architectures and cloud tooling
22. Ability to stay current with emerging AI technologies and practices
