Salary: £32,433 - £49,944 (MPR2 - UPR3)

Required for September 2025: a full-time, innovative, enthusiastic classroom practitioner and inspiring leader to lead the teaching of RS, RVE (& Sociology) across the age and ability range at Bryngwyn School.

This is an exceptional opportunity for either an outstanding teacher seeking the challenge of leading a department or for a proven leader, to work in an environment that prides itself on working collaboratively to maximize the potential of all its pupils. The successful candidate would be expected to bring an innovative, dynamic, and ambitious approach to the department. They will join a forward-thinking and creative Humanities AOLE who work collaboratively to provide an exciting curriculum for Bryngwyn pupils. They must demonstrate:

* A successful track record of teaching RVE and Religious Studies up to and including GCSE. The ability to teach Sociology would be an advantage.
* Strong leadership and motivational skills
* The ability to maximize resources and to develop strategies for promoting effective teaching and learning in the department
* Evidence of raising achievement
* A capacity for hard work and to work under pressure

The primary role of the head of department is to provide a strategic vision and secure commitment to both school and department values. Candidates should thrive on the development and leadership opportunities presented, be an outstanding classroom practitioner, and consistently demonstrate the highest standards of delivery. Bryngwyn School is committed to raising attainment across all key stages, and successful applicants need to champion this ethos and demonstrate a sound understanding of the strategies required to achieve this. Bryngwyn School is a popular and highly successful 11-16 school that is committed to achieving the best for all its pupils. This is a high-achieving, well-resourced school, renowned for its academic excellence and outstanding performance. Bryngwyn is part of a Federation with Glan-y-Môr School.

The Federation was inspected by Estyn in May 2017 where Bryngwyn School attained 15 out of 15 possible judgements at Excellent. The current performance and prospect for improvement for the school are both excellent.
