Speech & Language Therapist – Cheswold Park Hospital

Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Speech & Language Therapist to work within our Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (NRU), a 12-bed specialist rehabilitation service for patients with long‑term neurological conditions.
Responsibilities
* Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders for inpatients on the unit.
* Develop evidence‑based therapy programmes at a specialist level, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain high standards of clinical care and manage a clinical caseload with autonomy.
* Contribute to clinical leadership and supervision of junior staff, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and infection control policies.
* Assist with service development, quality improvement projects and the implementation of best practice guidelines.
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
* Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists certificate to practice as an SLT.
* Current registration with HCPC.
* Post‑graduate accredited dysphagia training and evidence of continuous professional development.
Experience
* Proven post‑graduate SLT experience providing assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with swallowing and communication difficulties.
* Experience working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience of supervising or providing support to junior SLTs and other allied health professionals.
* Experience of managing clinical records in line with service policies and RCSLT guidance.
Essential Skills & Attributes
* Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the use of augmentative and alternative communication.
* Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
* Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work within a team.
* A valid driving licence and access to a car for working day travel (reasonable adjustments available).
