The Nuclear Medicine service at Singleton Hospital features two state-of-the-art SPECT-CT systems, an on-site Radiopharmacy, bone densitometry, a mobile PET-CT service, inpatient radionuclide therapy, and gamma counting facilities.
The post holder will manage operations and lead a highly skilled team within the Radiopharmacy, which operates under full compliance with GMP standards as outlined by the MHRA 'specials' license. The Radiopharmacy provides a wide range of radiolabelled products to various Nuclear Medicine departments across South Wales.
The role involves managing the technical activities involved in the daily operation of the Radiopharmacy, including radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and blood labelling services. This is complex and specialised work, involving handling radioactive substances and managing the hazards associated with ionising radiation daily.
This service will transition to a centralised NHS Wales Transforming Access to Medicines (TrAMs) service, hosted by NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP). The current services provided by 'NAME OF HEALTH BOARD' and its employees will transfer to NWSSP during the transition period. Please contact the recruiting manager for further discussion. Main duties of the job
The Radiopharmaceutical manufacture is carried out under a Manufacturer's Specials Licence issued by the MHRA. The post holder will be the designated Production Manager on the 'Specials' Licence for the Radiopharmacy service.
The post holder will lead a skilled team involved in the preparation and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals. They will be responsible for managing the Radiopharmacy Quality System and ensuring compliance with the 'Specials' Licence and EU Directive 2003/94/EC (the 'GMP Directive').
