Overview
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of school-aged children? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated service providing speech and language therapy to school aged pupils in mainstream schools as part of the Speech and Language Inclusion Partnership (SLIP) and specialist provision.
Responsibilities
* Assessment and differential diagnosis of a child's communication difficulties through the use of standardised assessments, reflection of auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a child\'s communication, informal observation, specialist knowledge and consultation with parents and school staff
* Develop and implement speech and language therapy treatment using information gained through assessment and develop clear care plans based on evidence and evaluation of outcomes
* Produce reports reflecting clinical knowledge regarding patients\' needs and summarising proposed care plans for parents, carers, school staff, educational psychologists and the local education department and medical staff, including reports for education, health and care plans
* Provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with speech, language and communication difficulties
* Communicate complex condition-related information from assessment to clients, carers, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team/other professions to facilitate joint working and maximise the effectiveness of speech and language therapy input, engaging children and parents in therapy
* To identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness, and to develop and implement speech and language therapy treatment plans based on assessment and evaluated outcomes
Qualifications and requirements
* A BSc Hons or recognised degree equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
* Registered member of Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes (essential)
* Confidence using IT systems and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Experience in handling children with disabilities and conducting oral examinations as part of clinical duties

* Full-time fixed term position for 12 months
* Based at St Martin\'s Hospital in Bath as part of the team
