The business was recently recognised with Build It Awards 2024 success and continues to invest heavily in its people, systems and future growth.They are now seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to support the day-to-day finance function and help strengthen financial visibility, reporting and operational controls across the business.Assistant Accountant, the role:Raising and processing sales invoicesPosting purchase invoices, expenses and bank transactionsDaily monitoring of bank transactions and allocation of receipts and paymentsCompleting bank, supplier and customer reconciliationsManaging credit control and chasing overdue paymentsPreparing supplier, expense and payroll-related payment runsMaintaining accurate financial records across Xero and related systemsSupporting month-end processes including accruals, prepayments and reconciliationsPreparing VAT and CIS returnsSupporting cashflow reporting and internal financial visibilityAssisting with project cost tracking, WIP reporting and margin analysisSupporting staged invoicing and ensuring alignment with project progressWorking closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure financial accuracyHelping improve finance processes, controls and reporting systemsSupporting stock and project cost control improvements across the businessAssisting with financial compliance, reporting and administrationAssistant Accountant, the person:Previous experience within a finance-focused role in an SME or owner-managed businessAAT Level 3 minimum or equivalent bookkeeping / finance experienceStrong working knowledge of XeroExperience within construction or project-based environmentsExperience with invoicing, reconciliations, supplier payments and credit controlExperience supporting month-end processesWorking knowledge of VAT and CISStrong Excel and spreadsheet skillsHighly organised with strong attention to detailAble to manage competing priorities within a fast-moving environmentPractical, solutions-focused and commercially awareStrong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teamsDesirable:AAT Level 4 or studying towards itExperience within manufacturing environmentsExperience with WIP reporting, project costing or stock controlFamiliarity with Monday.com, Stripe or NatWest ClearSpendExperience improving finance systems or processesAssistant Accountant, the benefits:Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home)22 days holidays plus bank holidaysTeam socials, BBQs and outdoor activitiesEarly Friday finishBirthday day offCycle to work schemeElectric vehicle salary sacrifice schemeTech schemeProfessional training and mentoring support24/7 GP access and mental health supportCompany pension schemePure Human Resources Limited works in partnership with Ecologic in providing Recruitment support.
