AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team and collaborate across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost.
A unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems, and solve most infrastructure issues with escalation for the most complex cases. You will create and maintain documentation and convey SOPs to junior staff. You will understand all aspects of the equipment you support and exercise independent decision-making while following direction when given.
You will execute small projects independently and work with your manager on larger local projects. You will act as an escalation point for junior technicians and understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, with on-call rotation and emergency shift coverage. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
* Ensure safety procedures are followed while performing work
* Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for regional sites
* Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies
* Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region
Basic Qualifications
* Data Centres are 24/7 environments; willingness to work rotating shifts (day/night) and weekends
* 3+ years of computer hardware experience
* 3+ years of computer networking experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate’s degree or higher in IT-related field; applicable certifications or equivalent experience; networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+; experience with CISCO, Juniper, and other devices
* Previous experience in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment)
* Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and ability to pass driving record check to operate company vehicles; travel between sites may occur
