Job Title: Customs Administrator
Location: Onsite – Stafford
Hourly Rate: £18.93
Job Type: 12 month contract assignment - likely to extend!
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 08:00-16:30 / Friday 08:00-13:00
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Customs Administrator to join a leading manufacturing organisation at their engine facility in Stafford. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to support the international movement of goods, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations and internal company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately provide customs clearance instructions to brokers within strict UK regulatory timelines
* Ensure all imports are cleared compliantly and in line with HMRC and company procedures
* Manage and check import documentation for accuracy and completeness
* Liaise with stakeholders to resolve queries and discrepancies
* Calculate customs duties and identify opportunities for duty savings
* Maintain accurate and auditable records for HMRC inspections
* Monitor compliance metrics and escalate issues when necessary
* Coordinate classification requests and contribute to process improvements
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of managing multiple priorities
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* Confident communicator (written and verbal)
* Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (e.g., pivot tables, basic formulas, formatting)
Desirable:
* Experience in large or multinational organisations
* Previous experience in import/export operations
* Familiarity with Incoterms and CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
