Position Overview
Head of Activities at Richmond Village Willaston, a specialist dementia village, responsible for leading an activities team and delivering a varied, person-centred programme of activities that meet the needs, wishes and abilities of residents.
Responsibilities
* Identify resident activity needs and wishes through assessment, observation and discussion and liaise with residents, relatives, friends and staff.
* Explore and implement appropriate methods and resources, including group events and individual sessions.
* Manage the activities team, including supervisions, appraisals and participation across the village, the care home and for residents living with dementia.
* Organise outings, ensuring safety and staffing requirements are met.
* Contribute to and participate in fund‑raising events as required.
* Advertise and promote the programme to encourage involvement of residents, relatives and staff.
* Maintain written records of resident assessments, participation and activity evaluations.
* Produce a weekly programme and a monthly newsletter, and update the village website and social media.
* Maintain excellent health and safety standards and risk‑assess all activities.
* Manage the activities budget, financial records and procurement of resources within budgetary limits.
Qualifications & Skills
* Full, clean UK driving licence.
* Experience managing a team within a care home setting with elderly and/or vulnerable people.
* Experience supporting people living with dementia (desired).
* Experience organising events and arranging activities.
* Positive attitude, motivation and sense of humour.
* Empathetic, friendly and capable of building long‑lasting professional relationships with staff, residents, families and the local community.
